Diversify Your Affiliates As You Would Your Portfolio!

by: Michael Age

Ever wondered why you only see one affiliate on a really nice website or blog? Why do some people or organizations settle for only one affiliate when there are literally dozens if not hundreds of matchable products at their finger tips? It might be because some people do not think about other affiliates or know about them. Most people use Google Adsense, and while this is ok, there is a world beyond Google services.

Look at affiliate products and goods as additions that compliment your webpage or blog and not compete with it. View the larger picture of design and strategy. Convey the fluid connection between what you are writing about and what you are offering. Four categories that simplify this is: Services, Products, Information, & Cash.
Here they are outlined:

Services: Examples: Accounting, Hosting, & even Cleaning / Companies could include Pay Pal, eBay & Merry Maids

Products (Tangables): Examples: Groceries, Clothing, Cars, & Medicines / Companies involved could be Walmart, Target, Amazon, & again eBay

Information: Examples: Electronic and Book Form Software and Educational Materials / Amazon, eBay, Barnes & Noble, Ultimate Wealth Package

Cash: Examples: Loans, Cash Transfers, Stocks, Bonds, Investments / Brokers & National Banks

Ebay if you could not tell is a great source of ideas. Take an hour or two and just explore the type of offering eBay has. It is amazing the number of items listed. You can really get new ideas this way.

This is a touch of the idea that variety of companies and products increases earnings. Affiliates can not only benefit your site but help promote the theme and pursuit of business goals. Please drop me a line and discuss how you create a fluid relationship between site context and affiliate offerings.

Remember to diversify your offerings so that you can reach the largest segment of the viewing population. Niche selling is best, but include the entire niche. You would not buy all General Electric or Ford stock to make up your portfolio, so why settle with one affiliate?

Cheers!
